happy birthday to you... and you!

August is a birthday heavy month for our family... Robyn and his mom share the 12th, my cousin and her daughter are on the 19th and 26th, and yesterday was my Grandma's (we call her Deeda)... this year she's 96 years young. We celebrated Robyn's and Deeda's with cakes and laughs and that's what birthdays are all about! My girls baked for their dad... this was their version of a laungoustine... ever heard of that? They and Robyn all love Mr Bean, and the cake was based on this movie clip (click on 'this movie clip'... apparently my link is there, you just don't know it!). I thought they did a wonderful job and it was an amazingly creative cake!

And here are the girls and my grandma together. We celebrated with her and my parents on Saturday night and had a great time. Like I said, she's 96 years young... we love you Deeda!

95 years young...

We celebrated another birthday this past weekend... my Grandma, Deeda, turned 95 years young! My girls decorated the cake to look like a pair of Bingo cards... Deeda loves Bingo!

We hope you had a wonderful birthday, Deeda, and we're looking forward to next year's!

quick post from a proud momma

I just left Julianna at her big track meet. This picture is of her and her pals after the 800m... Julianna came in fourth.
Just before I left, she ran the 100m and took first! Me, proud? Not much!

Here's Emily and her friend Maddie... they're back safe, sound, and sunburnt from their band trip to Victoria. We saw Em marching in the Victoria Day parade yesterday for a fleeting moment, just a mere three hours after we sat down to watch for her. Me, proud? Not much!

And now, I need to get cracking. Lots of sewing on bibs, quilts, and Java Jackets to do in the next week as I have a table out at the Yarrow Days event on June 6th. Me, busy? Not much!

And just to let you know... Deeda seems to be on the mend. She's still having troubles with her oxygen levels, but the antibiotics for her chest seem to be calming things down for her. Thank you for your prayers! She was tickled to hear that there was a network of women across the continent praying for her. Me, thankful? Not much!

It's 3:17 pm and I just got the girls home from school... Julianna got 2 firsts, 1 second, 1 third, and a fourth place ribbon! I'm thinking she had a pretty good day!

please pray...

I've introduced you to my dear Grandma, Deeda, before. Here she is last weekend at a Mother's Day Tea with my girls at the home where she lives...For a couple of years now she has struggled with fluid in her lungs resulting in a very nasty cough. It is back with a vengance and right now she's in the hopsital awaiting a chest x-ray. My mom went by transport ambulance with her. I'm home waiting for a phone call. Her oxygen levels are very low, the fluid level is very high and she is quite weak. She had a bit of a fall last night. One of the paramedics says it sounds like pneumonia. Her sense of humor, however, is fully intact.

Please pray for my Grandma. Hopefully they will keep her at the hospital if there's even the slightest reason for her to stay.
Thank you!

One amazing woman, my Deeda!

Early Happy Birthday wishes go out to my beautiful Grandma, who we affectionately call our Deeda. Our family got together from all over today to catch up and help her celebrate. She is a very special lady and we all love her dearly.

Based on these pictures, can you guess how old she is?

Let's just say that I can only dream of looking that fabulous when I turn 93!!
