such sad news...

For over a year now I've sporadically shared posts from my friend Kristin's blog as she talked and shared and prayed through her cancer journey... and I've always asked for your prayers when things were rough for her. I even posted an update just last Sunday.

I'm heartbroken to share that Kristin lost her battle with that awful disease yesterday afternoon.

I did not know Kristin very well, but still she was an amazing friend to me. She was the most uplifting person I know. Her faith was contagious and it made me want to be a stronger Christian.

This little monkey (made by my daughter) was gifted to Kristin last Christmas by her twin sisters.
They stopped by my Christmas open house on their way to the hospital to visit Kristen and bought it for her because they knew she hadn't wanted to miss the event. To my knowledge, it spent the last year travelling to many appointments and procedures with Kristin, and I hope she knew that it represented everyone who wanted to be with her but couldn't. I understand it never left her side. Also last Christmas, I had the opportunity to make sure that Kristin would be wrapped in warmth, and it worked out that Keri and Kori were able to gift to Kristin a quilt that I had made...
I think God knew that maybe this was the best way for me to spend time with her over the last few months. When I saw her just before Christmas, I had no way of knowing that the gentle hug we shared would be the last time I'd see her.

Please pray now for Kristin's family... her husband and four young children in particular. And her parents, and sisters, and all the rest of her family and friends. Pray that they feel wrapped in God's warm arms and can find peace. Thank you so much.

Praying for you too my quilty friend. It is always hard to loose someone we have come to love.

We both know she is not lost forever...just gone ahead of us on an earlier train. I look forward to meeting her someday...cancer free.
