swooning along...

It's been a while since I worked on my "Fly a Kite" Swoon quilt. The last day I pieced a block was the day we lost London. You can read about it by clicking here if you want. After that, I didn't really feel like working on it, but I'm happy to be in the mood again! Here she is, and these pics were taken on the last morning we had her.

I got smart with my latest blocks, and employed some serious time saving tricks with stack cutting, laying out like-groups, and chain piecing. Since this quilt takes some major commitment, being deliberate with how I pieced paid off and I completed two new blocks in record (for me) time. And of course, little English had to get in on  the picture taking action...
Here's my quilt so far... (sorry it`s not the best picture!|)
The last three blocks are stacked on my sewing table and I'm planning to sneak in some serious stitching this afternoon.

Make a Swoon quilt. You won't be sorry! But be sure to save the cut-offs from the flying geese units. You never know, your Swoon quilt might just yield an entire second project for you... like this one... inspired by this pattern.
Have a great day!

I just bought the Swoon pattern. I am thinking of making a quilt for my bed. In almost 20 years of quilting, I have never made a quilt for my own bed. I am thinking of using a gray background and adding long borders so it will be big enough. What do you think?
