deck-ade the halls...

This is a bit of a catch up post, and yet there is a block missing from the overall picture. I'm doing Fat Quarter Shop's Deck-Ade the Halls BOM and am having a lot of fun with it! I'm making two versions of the quilt, but just have pics of one today... this one is using "Joy" and "In From the Cold", both by Kate Spain. So cheerful, and so perfect together!
Block #1... Three Wise Gingerbread Men...
Block #2... Star-Studded... and... Block #3... Vintage Ornaments...
Block #4... Santa's Stockings...
Block #6... Holiday Homecoming...
Here they all are so far...  I'm loving them so much, I may keep those blocks up until Christmas!
I also have a secret to share... I'm using layer cakes to make this quilt, despite the pattern calling for 1/2 yard cuts.
I know, I'm such a rebel! Luckily, the "Joy" layer cake was comprised entirely of duplicates, and the "In From the Cold" had make duplicates to work with as well. It's a thought provoking process, and even though I'm the least math-y person on the planet, it's working out, and I'm having a great time playing with making the block scrappy...
I know I haven't made  block #5 yet, but it's next on my list, as is catching up on my second version, being made with my most favorite Christmas fabric ever. Any guesses what it is? We'll talk soon!

Oh...very, very nice and cool fabrics. They all go together so nicely. I love the ornaments!

I have downloaded the blocks but haven't started yet because I couldn't decide what to use but I have a layer cake of Aspen Grey so since you were able to use some layer cakes I'm going to bite the bullet and try. Thanks for sharing.

Look at you all ready for Christmas! We used to be so good about getting things done early, but the past few years it's been so busy we usually don't think about it until a month before. Sheesh I should get cracking. :)
