Welcome to My {new} Brown Bag Studio!

About a week or so ago, I realized that I'd outgrown my sewing room... or I guess I really can call it my "studio" since I'm creative in there almost every day and sell almost everything I make! I told Robyn that I was ready to move out and the rest is history!

Before I show pics, let me explain a little more. Since we moved into our house almost 7 years ago, Robyn has renovated every square inch of it to make it a perfect fit for our family. The second bedroom upstairs became my sewing space, and Robyn's office as well. It was tight. On a bad day, it looked like this... set up up all wrong and not functioning all that well, even after I cleaned it! On a good day, after a little custom building from my hubby, it looked like this... much better, but in the first photo, can you see the corner of Robyn's huge roll top desk? That sucker took up a lot of space and even after it moved into our bedroom (which has space issues of its own), things were a little tight.

So to make a long story short, this week I moved into our family room space... hey, it wasn't being used at all and so you bet I claimed it! All of Robyn's Coke collection will now move - with his desk - into the second bedroom to create an office space that is just for him. I'll post about that soon, but for now, here's my new space...
Want a tour? Here we go! When you walk in the room, to the right is this baker's rack, with a few projects on it that are listed in my etsy shop.
Beside that is the freezer, necessary but I made it pretty with a sweet little poster from Tamara of Delish Magazine... I love it! Such great words! The wall above will be a design wall before long. It's prime real estate in a quilter's studio!
Next to that is the door to the laundry room, and then a storage closet. And that brings us to the sitting area of the space.
Notice the treadmill waiting patiently for a little attention? The recliner was my grandmother's but now it looks like it belongs to London! The quiltie over the back of it was a gift that Julianna made me. She stitched the Fruits of the Spirit on it and it's wonderful!
Over the fireplace is a little storage space for purses, and the pictures were all done by Emily a few years ago. Love those saltbox houses!
And did you notice the three stacked round boxes down on the hearth? Perfect storage for my kiddos' coloring supplies... 'cause you're never too old to color!
To the right of the fireplace is a bookshelf with a little tv on top that's just the right size for a movie while I work. Beside that is a quilt rack loaded with projects waiting for quilting and finishing. One of these days, I'll get to them! The wall above this also will soon become a small design wall to store/display blocks on the go.
And now, if you'll turn around and look back towards the door you first came through, this is what you'll see... my sewing space from another view...
See the little hutch on the left? Want a better look? It was a sweet piece of furniture that Robyn rescued from a job and I was more than happy to adopt for obvious reasons! Inside, it holds more of my etsy pieces...
...and on top are a couple of wire racks for precuts. Oh, I love my precuts!
Turn left and you'll see my design wall between the two large bookshelf units that Robyn built.
Those units are amazing and hold absolutely everything!
I spent a little time making sure my fabric was picture-ready...
...and that my books and hoops were nice and tidy...
Here's a closer picture of my table...
...pattern storage...
...scissors, pens, pins, etc...
...and the tin where I store ric rac, bias tape, and zippers...
So that's it! I hope you've enjoyed the little tour and that you'll come visit again soon! You know where to find me!
