when life gives you lemons, have a GIVEAWAY...

You've heard the saying... "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade".
Well, we've had more than our share of financial lemons roll our way lately. But we've also had quite a few blessings, and for that we're grateful.
Today's lemon was a large one just for me - a lovely root canal this morning. It was a rather sour lemon to swallow, but there was also a blessing to go alongside it... my new dentist (who doesn't know me from the next uninsured person) blessed me with a significant cut in my bill. What a way to make the sour sweet!
When I came home from my appointment, I rested and then felt like trying my hand at making a potholder. In my stash, the perfect fabric was hiding.
As I sewed, my freezing started to come out and I started to feel a little pain. It kind of matches the lemon of a payment that's now waiting for us.
And that's when I decided that today should be a blessing... so I'm offering my new little potholder as a giveaway.
To enter, you must be a follower of my blog (and please mention that you are!), and you must believe that when life gives you lemons, the very best thing you can do is make lemonade!

(I'll draw the winner on Mon, April 23)

Oh, Kim. I'm sorry for the physical pain you've gone through today. I've had something similar done. Ouch! Good for you to notice the blessings that you have received lately despite the tough times. Hang in there.

Gosh I don't know which pain is worse; the root canal, or the bill.
These things are ridiculously expensive...nice that he cut it down some for you. We don't have insurance for those things either...pain in the butt....lol

I, too, had a root canal and paying for it was much worse - glad you have an understanding dentist!

Thanks for the chance to win your wonderful potholder!

Root canals... bah humbug! So sorry you had to go thru that... but do like that you did something creative do deal with being in the dumps... same exact thing I do to take my mind off the not so positive stuff.

I'm glad your new dentist cut you a break.... dental work is just soooo $$$$!

I would love to win your darling potholder.

I am a firm believer in the lemon to lemonade theory.

Hope your tooth feels better soon. Not a fun way to spend money, but thank goodness you could get it taken care of.

Hugs,
Julie

I've had quite a few root canals and the "root" of the problem is paying the bill!!!! Wow...a root canal is very expensive...but we have to save the tooth so we do it!

I have been a follower for a few years. Please enter me in your give-away. I love the lemon potholder...very thoughtful!

I'm a follower and wish there was some way to take away the pain. I really dislike dental work and have avoided it by being a fanatical flosser and brushing all the time! So sorry to hear of your woes. I do believe that lemons were made for lemonade (and salmon and tea); here's hoping for a brighter tomorrow.

Ouch...after a root canal forget the lemonade, let's go straight for some lemon chiffon cake with lemon frosting!! Of course I follow!! Hope you are feeling better soon!

The "lemons from lemonade" saying is always such good wisdom... a friend just mentioned sharing this with her young grandson! We can all relate to it. Your potholder is adorable and, yes, I have been following and enjoying your blog! Great dentist you have!

I love the rick rack atop the ruffle!

Oh, so sorry for the pain both ways! So sweet of you to think of others. I definitely believe in
when life gives you lemons, make lemonage!" I had a sweet "pay it forward" done to me a few months back, my mother-in-law passed away and I stopped in a fast food drive in for a quick stop and the car in front of me had paid for me without knowing my day! How sweet!
I'm a follower and will do something sweet for someone to just "pay it forward" in honor of you!

I follow your blog through google reader but not in emails sent. You don't have to enter me. I just wanted to say I understand how you feel. And I admire you doing for others in the midst of your own problems. That is really the best way to live. What a great example you are to me. I've been feeling rather sorry for myself lately. Thank you.

I think lemons from the dentist are the worst kind! But I also believe in lemonade... if you have read my blog this year, you would know that my hubby was in intensive care for 81 days/you can do the math! But for every problem, there is an upside! your potholder is proof!

Oh yuck! I have had root canals before and they are no fun....I do hope you are feeling better by now! I remember when I got mine, I had to go the bathroom. I tried to hold it....but finally told them I can't hold it any longer. They let me get up and go. I was a strange sight with this stuff in my mouth!

Love the potholder and would love to be entered in your giveaway! It is so cute!

I have been a follower for quite awhile now...lost track how long.

Love the new blog header! RUBY!! Love it! Question, though, in the old header ... where did you get the shoes that were pictured? They were super cute!

Root canals are NO fun! About a month ago I had to have TWO, no kidding! Two teeth right next to each other were absessed...unbelievable and VERY costly. I do have insurance but mine has a $1,500 max that they'll pay and I'd already had a crown and a filling replaced, so like you - I've had to pay out of pocket more than $1,000 so I know the mean of LEMONS! I am a follower! Hope you feel better soon!
