not quite the same old brand new resolutions...

Happy 2010 everyone! We made it safe and sound! Made any new promises so far this year? Or are they the same old-same old? Diet, exercise, general "I really need to get it together"-ness? Me too, but with a couple additions...

1.) I plan on becoming a strict flyer /coupon shopper. Who knows what the meal plan will look like from week to week, but this is something my family needs to do to get the old grocery bill back in shape.

2.) And on the same note... no more eating out 'just because'. It's waaay too easy to fall into that trap! And when you think of the cost of a meal out (even if it's 'just' fast food) and the fact that it's not even anything that you keep with you, it's a real eye opener. $20 would go a LOT further during a holiday or special outing than it would for just one meal.

3.) And my new personal challenge will be to use it up or do without. Fabrically speaking, of course.

There are so many more things I've considered adding to this little list, but I know myself, and I know that being reasonable and not going overboard with my promises to myself is a smart place for me to start. So, with baby steps I'm heading into the new year. And I'm planning on having a good one... one that will make a difference for my family!

good for you, my plans as well!
getting our grocery bill back to a reasonable amt, eating out for lunch once every 6 weeks, thats a real treat for me and making the quilts I have the fabric for and have wanted to make for a long time!
very little fabric shopping this year is the plan.
yes and exercise have to add that in there...
Happy New year!

Happy New Year, my friend! I hope you're beginning to feel better. And I so feel your pain. I'm down for the count as well.

Your goals are fabulous and attainable. I'm a die-hard sale flyer shopper and planner. And I love my crock pot because it's so easy to get dinner ready early, avoiding that last-minute temptation to "just get a pizza." I also have some recipes that make a lot so I make one and freeze one for that very same reason.

You can do it!!! Happy New Year!

yes, simply a 'lazy habit' isn't it? we too say we have to tighten that lazy habit. how many meals can you purchase at the grocery store for $20.

i wish you a happy new year, and thank you bundles and bushels for all your help and encouragement in 2009.

good goals that you have set. I am also going to try and whip our grocery budget into shape! It's out of control with 3 boys living in this house but I know with some careful planning, we can make the budget work better!

oh, and your little January stitchery is adorable. looks great as the blog header.
