cuttin' a rug...

So just before Christmas, I made a little purchase. My girlfriend had a next to new Cuttlebug die cutting machine that she was selling. Let me just say that I am in looove! I've already used it to cut shapes for on my Green Sleeves (after all, that's the reason I bought it), we used it when my girls had their scrapbooking parties, and Julianna embossed the cover of a little notebook she made me for Christmas. I also bought a set of circle dies, called Nestabilities, and since they work wonderfully on felt and wool, I can see that they will be used to death!

Here's the machine and set of circle dies...
Cutting lots of perfect circles...

And laying out my first penny type mat... fallish colors, I know, but it's what I had on hand (remember my use-it-up resolution...?)

And here she is all finished, front and back...

...also mat #2 in the works... do you like it with or without the circle in the middle? The colors in the right picture are a little more true than in the left.

~did I mention that I'm in looove with this little machine~

OOOOoooo!! I love the penny mats! I like the square one both ways. (Sorry to not give a more definitive answer to your question.)
Who knew that tricky little thing cuts fabric as well as paper! Good find!
Have a great day...

Hi! I just found your blog in creating a "quilt blog" for myself -- blogs to read, etc.

I love the penny mats . . .and I like the circle the middle (for what its worth)

I just wondered -- where do you get your felt/wool for the mats? I love the look of penny rugs, and would love to know a good source.

Thanks for your great blog -- I look forward to reading more and more and more... .

What a nifty little machine! I love the penny rugs I see all over the place. Made one for myself but hated cutting out the circles. I'm such a perfectionist and can see that this would make things much easier! Good for you! Will be on the look out for some great things you'll be making.
Have fun!
